Creative Corps Inland SoCal is a collaboration between the California Arts Council, the Inland Empire Community Foundation, Arts Connection, Riverside Arts Council, and the California Desert Arts Council to facilitate the California Creative Corps for Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.

Art work is real work, not merely a leisure pursuit.

Creative Corps Inland Socal serves high priority communities, putting artists to work in order to build healthier and more vibrant communities, working on local issues where their contributions traditionally have been excluded. Together, we are designing a program to distribute more than $3.8 million in grants for artists to offer their unique perspectives and talents.

Art is a fundamental tool for achieving progressive social change, because it imagines a world in which that change already exists. Artists in our communities know their local problems by heart and we know that if adequately compensated and integrated into community based work and conversations, they will bring innovative viewpoints to ongoing discussions.

Creative Corps Inland Socal will fund artists and organizations to envision and co-create public projects, messaging campaigns, media, and events that wrestle with environmental, public health, social justice, and civic engagement issues.

Art binds a community together, allowing residents to feel valued and confident, seeing themselves and their community in a positive light that opens up avenues for collaboration and inclusion. We invite you to join us in creating an Inland region that represents the vibrancy of all communities and cultures.

If you are an artist in Inland SoCal and have something to say about the issues of your community, or if you are part of an Inland Southern California community organization, we invite you to Creative Corps Inland SoCal listening sessions happening now across the region. Your involvement is key to ensuring Creative Corps Inland SoCal makes a real difference in our communities!

All of the input we receive will be incorporated into the grant program guidelines to be released in March 2023. A form to collect input for those who can’t attend sessions will be available soon.

Inland Empire Community Foundation Logo

The Inland Empire Community Foundation is a nonprofit, public charity that helps individuals, families and businesses make a meaningful difference on the issues they care about in the community through permanent charitable funds. We partner with generous donors (individuals, families) to address the needs of residents in the Inland Empire by helping them meet their charitable goals and maximize the impact of their giving. IECF invests and administers $130 million in 317 separate charitable funds according to rigorous national standards to ensure gifts continue to grow and have an impact for generations to come. Through grantmaking, we support diverse nonprofit organizations in their important work with arts and culture, children and families, civic and environmental benefit, education and scholarships, health and human services, and more. In our capacity as a convener, we bring together nonprofits, business, government, academia, and other key stakeholders to identify community needs and develop collaborative solutions.

Tribal Work Commitment

We acknowledge that we are embarking on new work on unceded ancestral and traditional tribal lands. The arts councils have been reaching out individually to tribes to begin a dialogue with federally recognized tribes and with tribes who are still seeking recognition. We are committed to supporting our ongoing relationships with tribes and hope to work with them to build a land acknowledgement statement. But we also affirm our intentions for creating ongoing relationships that honor the culture and practices of Native communities and to strengthen our awareness of historical and contemporary issues throughout this work. We also invite Native artists and culture bearers into this work and are committed to meeting with Native communities individually to discuss the program. This is a work in progress that will continue to evolve the more we learn and grow in our relationships and knowledge. Currently, we invite you to visit native-land.ca to find out more about on whose land you currently reside.
