When is the application period open?

Will there be just one application cycle, or more in the future?

There is one application cycle.

What will a typical award amount look like?

Grants fall into two categories:

  • Nonprofits and agencies who will employ artists & culture bearers – $25,000 to $150,00
  • Individual Artists and Culture Bearers 
    • Applying independently – $10,000 to $50,000;
    • Applying collectively as a smaller group – $50,000 to $100,000

If I have a fund within the Inland Empire Community Foundation, am I able to apply through that organization as an artist?

No, you will need to apply to Creative Corps Inland SoCal.

What standards will be applied to the screening process?

How will the awarding process ensure that social justice principles are minded and adhered to?

Social justice is one of the four key issues prioritized as a grant goal. In terms of the application and selection process, a scoring rubric will be used by the Review Committee.

Questions about the Healthy Places Index (HPI) map and Quartile 1

As an artist, do you need to live in a dark blue area, or can you do outreach in a dark blue area (Quartile 1)?

Artists must be full-time residents of San Bernardino and Riverside counties but must serve Quartile 1 communities. Click here to view the full guidelines.

We are located in a commercial area that is light blue but serve surrounding areas that are dark blue and hire artists from dark blue communities.  Will this be taken into account?

Who Can Apply

Is there a minimum age requirement for artists who can be funded?

Are fiscally sponsored organizations eligible?

Can “grassroots” orgs, artist collectives, or cooperatives apply, or do they need to be a 501(c)3 non-profit?

Groups or collectives that are not 501(c)3 should seek to partner with a community based organization or civic agency or seek a fiscal sponsor. Click here to view the full guidelines.

Do artists need to partner with existing organizations?

Artists may partner with organizations or work with a fiscal sponsor. Click here to view the full guidelines.

Are government agencies able to apply for program funding that addresses the goals identified?

Government agencies will likely have stronger applications when applying with artists or collective and/or CBOs, especially if they can demonstrate the ability to create new sustainable jobs for artists in the long-term. Click here to view the full guidelines.

Can artists be funded to hire other artists, or would one need a non-profit for that kind of group effort?

How will social justice be prioritized in this funding?

Does the topic of “public health & pandemic recovery” include mental health recovery, resiliency, suicide prevention, etc?

Mental health, resiliency, and suicide prevention are top priorities in terms of pandemic recovery, which is one of the four key issues identified as a grant goal. Click here to view the full guidelines.

What the Grant Supports/Does Not Support

How should we plan to pay artists who will be part of the projects?

Final wage and payment should be agreed upon by award grantees, recipient organizations and/or artists directly. We strongly encourage livable and just wages and compensation commensurate with experience. Please refer to CA labor laws for legal reference and standards.

Can grant funding cover overhead, like utilities (current and past) and rent?

This program is designed to create new programs and projects and will not fund utilities and rent. Click here to view the full guidelines.

Will grant funding support individual artist exhibitions?

This funding at its heart is intended to put artists to work, to create new job opportunities for artists, and seeks to create serious innovation in cultural programming that might push the boundaries of an exhibition. Click here to view the full guidelines.

We are a non-profit and would like to get a grant to hire artists to do a large mural on the side of our building. Would this funding support murals?

Will this potentially support artist residencies that are instructional and include travel and a stipend for the artists?

Can these funds be used to support a one-time project like a community mural to cover a high graffiti area and help with working with the city?

We encourage applicants to think beyond a one-time project or community mural to create sustainable change and provide new jobs for artists in the long-term. Click here to view the full guidelines.

Can funding be used for creating community, art, vendor, performance, and resource focused events?

This funding is intended to push the boundaries of what cultural experiences can be. We encourage you to innovate new kinds of programming! Click here to view the full guidelines.

Can funding be used to launch a new 501(c)3?

No, this funding is not intended to support new non-profits. Click here to view the full guidelines.

Can grant funding help our organization provide raises and add new positions?

No, grant funding cannot be used on raises for existing employees. You can possibly add new positions if these meet the goals and objectives of the Creative Corps program. Click here to view the full guidelines.

I would like seed money to start a new performance and training studio. Would this program provide funding for tuition fees for participants in low-income communities?

Artist Support

If an individual artist wants to create public artwork, will we need to find building owners ourselves, or will there be a directory of potential sights made available?
